On Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at the Tim Hortons located at 80 Bradford Street in Barrie, ON, members of the Barrie Police Service and Simcoe-Dufferin Muskoka Crime Stoppers will launch a local crime prevention initiative designed to raise awareness about keyless Ignition Auto Theft.
The objective of the initiative is to create awareness within the community on the growing issue of Auto Theft through technology, provide vehicle owners with a simple and effective solution that blocks the key fob signal. As well, provide members of the community with a crime reporting platform and conduit to report persons involved in auto theft to the police anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers.
Constable Kiera Brooks of the Barrie Police Service Community Safety and Well Being Unit along with Barrie Police Service members, members of the Ontario Provincial Police, Crime Stoppers Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka and sponsors will be in attendance to issue branded “Project Lockdown” key fob signal pouch protectors to the first 50 vehicles that attend the Tim Hortons located at 80 Bradford Street.
